Nate’s World……Nate’s Mission!
I'm a bassist, singer, teacher, composer, and artistic producer living in Los Angeles. I love sharing the lessons I've learned with those seeking to define their own creative path.
I've played in the bass sections of many of the world's finest orchestras: Philadelphia, New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, San Fransisco, Cincinnati, and Baltimore. I've also developed a unique solo voice on an instrument that doesn't often stand alone. (click 'Performing' tab at top to check it out)
I've written and performed music for TV and film, most recently scoring a documentary that was executive produced by Martin Scorsese.
I've developed creative productions for the Louisville Orchestra, and the University of Southern California that combine music, actors, dancers and film.
I also love to sing. I made my operatic debut as tenor soloist in the Beethoven Chorale Fantasy at the Marlboro Music Festival, and regularly appear with my trusty guitar in chamber music festivals across the country.
Lastly, I love to teach. A life in music is a life spent learning. The basics of the instrument are not enough these days. One must also be fluent in business, technology, and sales, as the traditional concert hall is being reinvented online. I'm excited to share the nuts and bolts of bass playing that I learned from Hal Robinson and Edgar Meyer, and the tips and tricks I've learned in my pursuit of an artistic voice that reaches beyond an orchestral bass section. Thanks for visiting my site. Please contact me with your thoughts and ideas. Looking forward to hearing from you!
